The Maternity & Gynecology Care Center at Jameson
As a patient at the Maternity Care Center, it is all about you and your baby. Special attention and services are designed with your and your baby’s comfort and safety in mind. At Jameson, you have a choice of several dynamic, talented OB/GYNs including: Dr. Bassaly, Dr. Carlson, Dr. Dennis, Dr. Palumbo and Dr. Teh. Experienced physicians combined with a nursing staff uniquely skilled in maternity and newborn care grants you the peace of mind that you and your new addition are in good hands.

Childbirth Education & Preparation
Teaching you what to expect in your childbirth/delivery experience is an important first step. At Jameson, we offer a variety of free and low cost childbirth preparation classes designed to prepare you for childbirth and make your experience a truly joyous one. Classes for childbirth/Lamaze, breastfeeding and infant CPR are offered. Visit our Support Groups & Classes page for meeting times and information.

You may also want to meet your nurses prior to delivery of your baby. Seeing the women that will be there with you and getting to know them will give you an added boost of confidence that you and your new baby will receive the very best care.

Our Nurses
You will find yourself growing attached to the talented, special nurses that are there with you throughout your experience. Your nurse throughout labor; during delivery; caring for you that first night; the one who helps you find the perfect position for latching when breastfeeding your newborn; the nurse who teaches you the perfect "burrito" swaddle – they’ll all hold a special place in your heart and form a part of the memories from the hospital stay where you went home with a new member of your family.

Labor-Delivery-Recovery (LDR) Rooms
Our Maternity Care Center features three labor and delivery rooms that are classically decorated and spacious to provide enough space for your whole family. These LDR (labor-delivery-recovery) rooms provide our patients with a unique homelike setting and allow you to stay in the same room for labor, delivery and immediate recovery. Special equipment is close-by, if needed. By providing you with one-on-one nursing care, you can have the type of personal interaction that is an important part of the birthing process for both you and your family. Because we strongly encourage you to keep your baby with you at all times, your nurse will be there to help promote bonding and learning between you and your new baby.

Private Hospital Rooms
Following immediate recovery, you will be moved out of the Labor/Delivery/Recovery room into a patient room in the Maternity Care Center. All patient rooms in this unit are private rooms so that you and your new family can have the privacy that you need to bond and get to know one another.

Childcare Education During Your Stay
Not to worry if your new baby’s is the first diaper you have changed. Our nursing staff will educate you on any and all aspects of child care that you would like. We will go through a listing with you of available training – including bathing, feeding, nursing/breastfeeding, diaper changing, swaddling, dressing, giving medicine, etc. Your education program will be customized to meet your and your baby’s needs.

You will also receive a folder of information including childcare education materials, information about common newborn conditions that may occur – such as jaundice, information about the newborn hearing test, symptoms of postpartum depression and so on. It is our goal to prepare you to manage your responsibilities with your new baby at home with confidence.

Secure Unit
For your and your baby’s safety and security, the Maternity Care Center is a secure, locked unit. In order to enter, all visitors must request entrance through the intercom system. In our nursing station, our staff will have a visual through closed-circuit television of who is requesting to enter and who the individual is there to visit. This way, we can help you to manage the visitors that you have throughout your stay.

Babies!
Last year, Jameson had exactly 500 births delivered at the Maternity Care Center. Each time a baby is born, you will hear the Lullaby song played throughout the hospital. To view the beautiful little ones that arrived, view our Baby Gallery.
