Jameson Health System Announces Last Beam “Topping Out” Ceremony of the New Emergency & Surgical Departments Building

A Last Beam Topping Out Ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 12that 10:30 a.m. to commemorate the final steel beam that will be placed at the top of Jameson Hospital’s New Emergency & Surgical Departments Building, a three-story 55,000 square foot facility that will house all new Emergency (ER) and Surgical (OR) departments for the health system.

During the ceremony, elected officials along with Jameson Health System Board, Medical Staff and Executive Leadership will join representatives from P.J. Dick, the project general contractor, to sign the steel beam before it is hoisted and set into place. The red, white and blue-painted beam will be positioned outside of the existing Emergency Department for signatures. All individuals in attendance of the ceremony will be available for media interviews and photo opportunities.

WHO         In addition to health system and construction leadership, Distinguished Guests  including State Senator Bob Robbins, State Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. and Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogler have confirmed their attendance to the ceremony. They represent a sampling of our elected officials who have successfully advocated project funding by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

WHEN:         Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. 

WHERE:        Jameson Hospital North Campus, 1211 Wilmington Avenue, New Castle, PA 16105.

                     The ceremony will be held outside of the existing Emergency Department entrance.

WHY:         The Topping Out ceremony is being held to commemorate this milestone in construction of the New Emergency & Surgical Departments Building. The new construction will be connected to Jameson Hospital with a glass-enclosed walkway and will include 30 private patient emergency rooms, six operating rooms and two endoscopy suites equipped with the latest technology and capabilities. Final building construction, internal furnishings and improved equipment is projected to cost $20.3 million. The new facility is targeted to open for service early 2013.

Media will be permitted to park in the upper level Same Day Surgery parking lot accessible from the Garfield Avenue entrance.
