Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County, supported in part with a grant from the Hospice Education Institute, is offering all care givers a three-part Caregiver Support Program. Caregivers will be recognized with massages, manicures, humor, relaxation and gifts. Alice Sankey, Chief Executive Officer of Lark Enterprises, will be the keynote speaker. Alice will present Caregiver Comfort – The Magic of Humor.
The first in the three-part program will be “It’s Your Turn: A Day of Care For Caregivers” focusing on all care givers coming together in the community with education care tips, resources to assist them and support from fellow care givers. The program will be offered on November 20th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Jameson Hospital South Campus, 1000 S. Mercer Street, New Castle. Registration deadline is November 13th by calling 724.652.8847.
Rebecca Wendel, Hospice Social Worker explained, “Many of the caregivers are overwhelmed, isolated, stressed, and lack support. Currently there are no programs in this area that unite care givers from all backgrounds. This program will enable us to connect the caregivers in the community with caregivers facing the same obstacles and assist them with community resources.” The three-part sessions will provide caregivers with education, care tips, resources, support and enhance the care for patients and care recipients in the community. The first session focuses on caring for themselves: “It’s Your Turn: A Day of Care For Caregivers.” The second session focuses on accessing community resources and support available to care givers and the third session focuses on learning hands-on care techniques.
There is no charge for participation in the program and it is open to all care givers. For more information and to register for the program, call 724.652.8847 or visit www.jamesonhealth.org/hospice.
