Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County Memorial Golf Outing
New Castle, PA – September 19, 2011 – The day was overcast with the threat of rain but 130 golfers showed up for this year’s “Second Annual Fore Johnny Memorial Golf Outing” in memory of John M. Casacchia on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Castle Hills Golf Course.
John M. Casacchia, for 46 years made his living as a barber and owned the famous Johnny’s Barber Shop on Long Avenue in New Castle’s South Side. John lost his battle with cancer on September 26, 2010. To assist his family in his care, the first Fore Johnny Memorial Golf Outing fundraiser was organized. This event was such an overwhelming success that the Second Annual Fore Johnny Memorial Golf Outing was organized. Brian Chrobak, Joshua Vitale and Kevin Kelley organized the event with all proceeds benefiting the Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County. Brian Chrobak commented, “We recognize that many of us have experienced the troubles faced by loved ones, like John, in need of care. John and his family were fortunate to receive such generous care through our local Hospice organization. It is because of this experience that we will graciously donate all proceeds from this year’s event to the Jameson Hospice.”
Stacia Bintrim, Hospice Coordinator said, "These fine young men are to be commended for taking the time and effort to organize an outstanding golf outing in memory of John. You could feel the excitement in the air in spite of the rain. Hospice is a special way of caring for terminally ill patients and families. At Jameson Hospice, the patient and the family are our patients. We will do everything within our power to offer the care-giving family members the support services that they need during this difficult time.”
