Sessions Beginning at Jameson Hospital for Nationally Recognized KidShape Program

Date: 03/16/2012

The Jameson Hospital Community Education Department and The Highmark Foundation have teamed to present KidShape, a nationally recognized family-based weight management program designed with hands-on activities for children ages six to thirteen and their parents. Activities are fun and promote healthy behavior changes like increasing activity and choosing more nutritious snacks, drinks and meals. There is no fee for participants.

“This program has proven results to reduce weight and increase self-esteem. We watch our kids transform throughout the program,” explains Charlane Verdi, RN, Director of the Staff and Community Education Department at Jameson Hospital. “The majority of our participants continue to see reductions in BMI (body mass index) at their 12-week follow-up session, which is one of the goals of our program.”

This free 9-session family-based program series begins Thursday, March 22nd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Jameson Hospital South Campus Conference Center, 1000 South Mercer Street, New Castle, PA.

You may register for the program by calling (724) 656-4094.  For more information about health and wellness programs offered by JHS, please visit www.jamesonhealth.org/wellness.
