Dean Ornish Program

Dean Ornish Program

Program Elements

There are four primary components of the program that work in unison to rehabilitate the body by modifying risk factors of heart disease.
The four pillars of the program are:

  • a nutrition plan based on low-fat, non-inflammatory whole foods
  • moderate exercise, including strength training
  • stress management
  • group support

Aspects of these components are applied according to a patient's clinical risk and are practiced together to improve the participant's physical health and quality of life. The full program is one year of education and experiences to guide you to eliminate or control risk factors and provide the support required to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle.
