More About MILD

Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression is a procedure to treat pain associated with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS). More than medical pain management but short of open back surgery, it is performed through a portal smaller than the diameter of a pencil in which the stenotic spinal canal is opened by resecting a small portion of the ligamentum flavum. The outpatient procedure is performed in less than one hour under local anesthetic (awake sedation). Patients report immediate pain relief, improved mobility and are impressed by the quick recovery time. MILD patients experience over 70% improved mobility and 75% less pain.
