Mission Statement
The Educational Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology will provide a quality education in the imaging specialty with an emphasis on clinical competence, patient care and safety, and pride and professionalism in conjunction with Jameson Health System while serving our community and adhering to our commitment to excellence.

Accreditation

The Educational Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology at Jameson Health System is an accredited one-year program.  The school is accredited by The Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology.  www.jrcnmt.org

Program Goals

The Educational Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology at Jameson Health System serves its community and its students through meeting and maintaining the following goals.

  1. To provide a quality education in the advanced level radiographic modalities of Nuclear Medicine based on the educational standards and essentials as set forth by the JRCNMT.
  2. To produce a graduate with the highest possible standards of clinical competence, dedication to patient care and safety, and obvious pride and professionalism in their chosen profession.

Program Outcomes

The Educational Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology at Jameson Health System has been successfully educating students in the field of Nuclear Medicine Technology with a 100% pass rate for the past 3 years for those who have taken either the ARRT and/or the NMTCB registry.

Educational requirements

          Pre-requisites

  • Chemistry with a lab
  • College Algebra
  • General physics
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab.
  • Medical terminology
  • 1 humanities course
  • 1 social science course
  • Oral and written communications.

Requirements for Admission

  1. High school graduate or equivalent
  2. Four (4) professional letters of reference.
  3. Official transcripts from high school and any post secondary education
  4. All applicants are required to complete a minimum of 4 hours of observation at the Jameson Health System Nuclear Medicine Department
  5. Personal Interview
  6. Score of 55 or higher on the HOBET test
  7. Pre-admission physical examination

Deadline for applications and all related documents is March 1.

Each summer 2 students are admitted to the program

Student Clinical Schedule

All students will be scheduled for their clinical education at Jameson’s North Campus with a rotation through The Center for Cardiac Health, PET/CT, and a radiopharmacy.

Program Costs
1.   Tuition is $4,500.00 per year (subject to change)

2.   Books are approx. $300.00

3.   Students are required to show proof of health insurance coverage. Jameson Health System does not provide this.

There is no Title IV funding available

Withdrawal/ Refund Policy

The Educational Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology follows the same withdrawal/refund process as the School of Radiography.

Student Resources

  • Resource Center-located on the ground floor in the School of Radiography classroom building. It contains access to computer, professional journals and magazines.
  • Students also have access to the Jameson Health System-School of Nursing Library located in the School of Nursing building at the North Campus, complete with full-time librarian
  • Students also have access to the Jameson Health System Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Tutoring- students needing tutoring may make an appointment with any faculty member for tutoring assistance.

Upon graduation from the program students will be eligible to sit for the ARRT examination and also the NMTCB examination.
