A local hospital system is setting an example of a healthy way to lose weight.
Two hundred Jameson Health Systems employees took a weight loss challenge earlier this spring.
Their CEO, Doug Danko, actually dared them to lose more weight than he did. Collectively, they lost about 1,500 pounds.
And anyone who dropped more than the 23 pounds Danko lost won prizes during their celebration Friday.
"As a health care organization, it's our goal to make sure community stays healthy," said Danko."Therefore in order for us to set an example, we have to work to become healthier together and participate in a wellness program."
Jameson plans to keep up with their new fitness and diet regime and participants hope other employees join them as well.
"Most of the time when people try to lose weight individually they lose interest," said Danko. "The self-discipline isn't there. But put together teams, and it just came together and they had fun with it."
