What is a Sleep Center?
A Sleep Center is a medical facility for the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with Sleep Related Disorders.  These disorders include problems falling asleep, staying asleep or problems remaining awake during the day.  Patients are referred to the Sleep Center for symptoms associated with sleep disorders that can include daytime sleepiness, snoring, breathing difficulties, headaches, irritability and poor work performance.  Lack of sleep can produce multiple symptoms that can interfere with our daily lives.

Common Sleep Disorders
Insomnia or inability to sleep, is not uncommon.  The causes can range from breathing problems, excessive use of medications, to psychological and/or emotional troubles.  Sleep-related disorders can sometimes be rather serious.  Some illnesses are more commonly noted during sleep.  Heavy snoring could be a symptom of a sleep disorder called sleep apnea.  Sleep apnea, or the cessation of breathing during sleep, can have significant consequences.  Patterns of breathing can change during sleep and result in diminished oxygen flow to the brain and the rest of the body.  Seizures are also noted to be more prevalent during sleep.  Pain, tremors or unusual movement disorders can interfere with sleep as well.  The variety and nature of sleep related disorders are surprisingly vast.

The SleepCenterat Jameson
The Jameson Sleep Center offers the latest diagnostic equipment and techniques for treating sleep disorders.  Once correctly diagnosed, many sleep disorders can be effectively treated.  Treatment may include a change in medication, an alteration of daily habits or the work schedule, weight loss or attention to related disorders.  The key to the selection of treatment rest primarily with proper diagnosis.

The Sleep Center is capable of 16 channel polysomnography for diagnosing sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), narcolepsy, insomnia, etc.  Nasal C-PAP is the most effective way to treat patients with OSA and the Sleep Lab is capable of titrating these C-PAP pressures for maximum benefit to the patient.

Jameson's Sleep Center has six private hotel-like rooms with bathroom and shower facilities so that patients can leave for work directly from the Lab, if needed.  The patients arrive to the Sleep Center at 8:30 - 9:00 pm and are generally here until 6:00 - 7:00 am the following morning.
